Recipe for Fulfilling Career Medley
In an empty teapot infuser, mix together:
2 scoops of self-actualization
1 scoop of wealth
1 teaspoon of mental stimulation
1/2 teaspoon of challenge
1 dash of positive impact
Pour boiling water into the teapot.
Serve hot or cold. Garnish with a slice of adventure.
Mother Nature knows best. After all, everything we consume is, directly or indirectly, derived from one of her gifts. Chaos theory is the science of surprises. It examines sensitive systems that are unpredictable and out of our control. Its most known concept, the Butterfly Effect, states that small changes in initial conditions in one state can result in large differences in a later state. We observe this phenomenon in nature and in humankind: a butterfly flapping its wings in China can lead to a hurricane in New Mexico; careful diplomacy can prevent war; asking the right questions can lead to a great discovery; a chance encounter can save a life. Our simple acts of kindness can have remarkable effects on humanity.

“One’s real life is so often the life that one does not lead.” This observation by Oscar Wilde was as true in turn-of-the-century Britain as it is today. Many of us have dreams, goals and talents that we don’t pursue because society divides us into groups and typecasts us. As children we are given colouring books with themes to fit our type. We learn that these books come with an implied set of rules: colour neatly in one direction, use complementary colours, finish one page before starting the next, and, most importantly, stay within the lines. When we grow into teenagers the colouring outlines only get more complicated, and the rules more restricted. Societal “norms” try to limit who we are and who we will become.

Fairy tales come true when we write them ourselves. Throughout the years, and especially after taking a few wrong turns in my life, I’ve learned how to write my way out of a rough drama and conjure up my own fairy tale. While the story and setting of your adventure are set, you decide on your actions, you choose which path to take, and you select the characters you want by your side. You certainly can’t wait for a hero to show up, but through being open to chances, and embracing opportunities, you can walk through the labyrinth, get past the obstacles, slay the dragon, and arrive at your happily ever after. Fairy tales come true when you dream with direction, work with purpose, and invest in people, not things. Following this formula you spread a fairy dust of positivity everywhere you go. You make the magic happen and you empower others to believe in their own story.
